I did not know Brett......

I got "Straight Outta Benoni" as a gift. I really enjoyed this movie and loved the humour used in it. I always try to support films made in South Africa and although, I have moved and now live in Oxford, England, my Aunt in Natal, always keeps me up to date.

I loved the character B-Dog in the movie, and thought, Wow, what a great guy! So very confident and what a great personality! I thought the part was played very well and somthing about this character stood out from the rest of the crowed. I found out in the credits, that the part of B-Dog, was played by Brett Goldin. Perhaps, it was his amazing smile, goofy laugh or really trendy dress sense, I am not sure, but I became a instant fan! I decided to look Brett up on the internet, to find out what other films Brett has been in.

Alas, I was very sad and sorry, to find out that Brett is no longer with us on this earth.....

I read all the articles, storeys and tried, like others to make sense of the gap that has been left in this world.

I loved the "Crazy Monkey" sketches for MTV, that Brett did.....

I think, because, I too had done some theatre and a bit of television work, in South Africa and Oxford (Nothing big). I would of loved to have met Brett, I think we would of had a lot in common. We were close in age and both from South Africa, trying to find that dream. Brett, I think to me was the kind of person that others and I would love to have followed and be like and have what made him tick inside. A role model in the theatre and real world. Who knows how far Brett would have gone?

I wrote this letter, as I feel, I need to express how I feel, about the lose of Brett, to his family, friends and fans. There is nothing I could give, to justify the lose of Brett and his friend, Richard Bloom. But, I found a song that to me says allot about South Africa and a man caught up in it all and how his family must feel and what we are all going through. No matter how short Bretts life and career was, in my eye's, he made it, as a Star!

I tuned into the Anthony Sher film last night, having missed the beginning. I recognised the name Brett Goldin (from Jo'burg) and when I saw Denise I was devastated by the realisation that this was "wee Brett Goldin" from King David, Victory Park.

I tuned into the Anthony Sher film last night, having missed the beginning. I recognised the name Brett Goldin (from Jo'burg) and when I saw Denise I was devastated by the realisation that this was "wee Brett Goldin" from King David, Victory Park.
I taught P.E. there for a few years. One loses track of students and I've come back to Scotland to live. I never realised that Brett had become such an accomplished young actor. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Brett's family for his untimely and barbaric death and for their subsequent loss. Marlynn Marshall
